Mike Jeannot, Principal Oboe
In his youth, Mike Jeannot studied oboe with Canadian oboist and composer Elizabeth Raum. He played in the South Saskatchewan Youth Orchestra and later the Regina Symphony Orchestra. After graduating high school, Mike decided to leave the oboe behind and pursue a science career in college. He obtained his Ph.D. in analytical chemistry at the University of Alberta in 1997, and moved to Minnesota with his family in 1998 to accept a faculty position at St. Cloud State University. Mike and his family moved to Buffalo in 2007 and soon discovered that the BCO was in need of an oboist. Mike resumed playing in 2010 and has rediscovered the joy of playing music and being part of a wonderful group of musicians in the BCO.
